VIP is a naturally occurring neuropeptide produced throughout the human body — in the gut, brain, lungs, and immune system. It’s not a novel synthetic invention like some of the other peptides above; it’s a hormone your body already makes, and the “product” version is a synthesized copy of it.

Biological role / research background:

• VIP acts on smooth muscle, blood flow, and secretion in the gastrointestinal tract, and plays a role in circadian rhythm regulation (it’s involved in signaling within the suprachiasmatic nucleus, the brain’s master clock).

• It has notable immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory properties, and has been studied for conditions involving chronic inflammation, autoimmune activity, and mast cell activation.

• It’s gained particular attention in research and patient communities around Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS) and mold-illness protocols (e.g., the Shoemaker protocol), where a nasal spray form is sometimes used as one of the later steps in a specific treatment sequence.

• Separately, synthetic VIP analogs (like Aviptadil) have been studied in legitimate clinical trials for conditions like pulmonary arterial hypertension and, more recently, severe respiratory illness — with mixed trial results.

Important caveats:

• Outside of Aviptadil (studied under proper clinical trial protocols), VIP is not FDA-approved as a standalone treatment. Compounded VIP nasal sprays used in protocols like Shoemaker’s are typically obtained through a prescribing physician via compounding pharmacies, not as an unregulated research chemical — so its “legitimacy tier” is a bit different from the frag/KPV/ARA-290 category.

• If what you have is being sold as a raw research chemical (powder, “not for human consumption” labeling) rather than through a compounding pharmacy prescription, the same purity/dosing uncertainty applies as the others.

• Even in legitimate protocols, VIP is usually used under physician supervision as part of a broader, staged treatment plan — not as a standalone product.
